Day Zero Tulum 2024

The Genesis of Day Zero

Day Zero came into existence on the final day of the Ancient Mayan Calendar in 2012, a date that many interpreted as signaling a new beginning rather than an apocalypse. Damian Lazarus, a renowned DJ, and producer, envisioned a festival that would harness the mysticism of the Mayan jungle, transforming it into a canvas for an extraordinary rave experience. The fusion of futuristic elements with Mayan traditions marked the festival's inception, setting the stage for an event like no other.

What sets Day Zero apart is its ability to create a unique storytelling universe through performance and production. As the sun sets, lasers pierce through the historic canopies of the jungle, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. Alien creatures from the future seemingly align with the ancient Mayans, blurring the lines between past and future. Partygoers are offered a chance to redefine their perception of space and time, immersed in an experience that transcends the ordinary.

On a mild night each January just north of Tulum, thousands of ravers from across the world descend upon a Cenote park for a night of dancing, connection, and pure magic. This gathering is unlike any other, and it leaves an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to be a part of it. Spanning three stages, the event lineup featured a diverse array of artists, ranging from established legends to the undergrounds best. The music reverberated through the jungle, creating an electrifying atmosphere that seemed to transcend time and space.

However, what made this event truly remarkable was not just the music but also the ephemeral nature of the experience. By noon the following day, the party had concluded, and the venue had seamlessly returned to its usual purpose as a weekend park for local families. It was as if the night of revelry had never happened, leaving no footprint on the pristine natural surroundings. It felt like a distant dream, a fleeting moment of collective euphoria.

The Hidden Location

Day Zero's allure also lies in its secret location. While the festival's exact whereabouts are shrouded in mystery, previous editions have been held close to Cenote Dos Ojos in the North East of Tulum. This secrecy adds an element of adventure and exclusivity, drawing in attendees from across the globe.

The Musical Odyssey

One of the cornerstones of Day Zero is its carefully curated lineup. Damian Lazarus, the festival's visionary founder, handpicks a selection of the world's most forward-thinking live acts and selectors. The result is a musical journey that spans from sunset to sunrise, featuring techno and house music's finest talents.

The lineup for Day Zero 2024 is nothing short of impressive. Headlined by a one-of-a-kind B2B performance between South African dance music icon Black Coffee and Damian Lazarus himself, the festival promises an unforgettable sunrise closing set. Joining this stellar duo are DJ Tennis, Patrick Mason, Seth Troxler, BINH, Skream, Bartolomeo, and many more, offering an ineffable festival experience that spans genres and styles.
