Despite already amassing an impressive following with over two million monthly listeners on Spotify and nearly three million Instagram followers, Peggy Gou's popularity is soaring even higher. Snippets of her new track, "(It Goes Like) Nanana," which was released on June 15, have taken TikTok's For You Page by storm.

Who is Peggy Gou?

For those who are unfamiliar with Peggy Gou, let's delve into her background, rise to fame, and her noteworthy net worth. Residing in Berlin, she inhabits an incredibly stylish residence featuring a sunken lounge and an elegant velvet green sofa. However, Gou spends minimal time at home, as evidenced by her recent Instagram update showcasing her jam-packed summer schedule. Her itinerary includes stops in London, Barcelona, Italy, Singapore, Amsterdam, Stockholm, another visit to Italy, Athens, Berlin, Belgium, Romania, Ibiza, Marbella, and Malaga. It's truly remarkable.

Born as Kim Min-ji in South Korea, Peggy Gou began her musical journey by learning classical piano at the age of eight. Her parents, notably her father Kim Chang-yong, a prominent journalist, sent her to England at the age of 14 to further her education and language skills. While she returned to Korea briefly at the age of 18, she quickly went back to London six months later to pursue a career in fashion at the London College of Fashion. However, her passion for DJing took precedence, causing her to lose interest in her fashion course. During her time in London, Peggy Gou immersed herself in the club scene, where she honed her DJing skills. Facebook photos depicting her behind the decks caught the attention of a friend, a promoter at Cirque Le Soir in Soho, who invited her to perform.

In no time, Gou secured a weekly residency at the Book Club in east London and began teaching herself music production using the audio software Ableton. In 2016, she released her first EPs, gradually gaining recognition. However, it was her 2018 release, the Once EP, that truly catapulted her career to new heights. The EP featured one of her most successful tracks, "It Makes You Forget (Itgehane)." Today, Peggy Gou stands as one of the biggest names in the dance music industry.

Reflecting on her journey, Gou shared with the Guardian, "Before I was a DJ, I was a raver. I really like Detroit DJs, like Maurice Fulton. You feel like he's going to play something techno, then all of a sudden it's disco."

In regard to her latest release, Gou expressed her thoughts, stating, "There's a feeling we all know but is hard to describe, that feeling of love, warmth, and excitement when you're surrounded by friends and loved ones and the energy speaks for itself. It's difficult to put into words, but to me, it goes 'nanana!'"

Peggy Gou's talent, passion, and infectious beats continue to captivate audiences worldwide. With her signing to XL Recordings, her latest single, and an array of upcoming live shows, there's no doubt that Peggy Gou's music career is on an upward trajectory.
