KC Lights Unveils Debut Music Video: "Better Times"

As we reach the peak of the Summer Festival season, Toolroom releases the music video for ‘Better Times’, the uplifting summer hit from breakthrough Scottish artist/producer, KC Lights, featuring the unmistakable vocal talent of Låpsley.

From the very first note, “Better Times” seems to elevate the mood while soaring with intimated certainty that better times are just around the corner. This magical collaboration has garnered enthusiastic accolades from industry tastemakers and fans from all over the world. It’s been chosen as BBC Radio One's “Hottest Record In The World” with additional support on Danny Howard’s ‘Dance Party’ show, Sirius XM’s Diplo’s Revolution & BPM stations, Miami’s Revolution 93.5, Triple J Radio (AU), George FM (NZ), Apple's DanceXL, RTE Radio (Ireland), and Sunshine Radio(Germany). The track has already amassed 32K Shazams, with DJ support from OliverHeldens, Chris Lake, and Peggy Gou as well as surpassing a whopping 3.2 million total streams. Currently, it is prominently featured on more than 15 esteemed Spotify editorial playlists, including the highly-regarded Mint, Dance Rising, and Housewerk playlists.

The video sets the perfect tone of nostalgia in the present time. The video attempts to transport the viewer to a simpler time and place where hope for ‘Better Times’ exists. The video seems to embody all the emotions and sentiments of this growing classic song. The deftly edited video is awash with the flow of psychedelic colors and hues that combine with the beautiful choreography and skating wizardry of the amazing Sun Skater and Storm Skater who are able to imbue a wistful sense of reflection as the action unfolds around Låpsley and KC Lights in the mystical roller disco, the location itself a nod to the record’s throwback disco feel.

Better Times is KC Lights first official music video as an artist after a string of successful releases on Toolroom. Following his 2020 soundtrack of the summer ‘Girl’, ‘Cold Light’ in 2021 and Daydreamer in 2022.

Featuring on the record and in the music video is critically acclaimed vocalist and songwriter Låpsley, who appears to be somewhat of a ghostly Disco Diva guide through the dreamy haze with longing memories for summers past. Låpsley rose to fame back in 2016 with her debut LP ‘The Long Way Home’ on the legendary XL Recordings. Of course, you can’t forget DJ Koze’s massive disco edit of ‘Operator’, which shot Låpsley through the stratosphere.

With a string of huge hits between them, and an abundance of talent and credibility, KC Lights and Låpsley come together on this official music video for ‘Better Times’, to offer a taste of the ephemeral, elusive and often intangible summer feeling you can only get from tracks like this.
