Alessio De Vecchi: The Visionary Artist Behind Afterlife

In recent times, whispers of a profound transformation within the music industry have grown louder. A transformation driven by equitable royalties, fan ownership, and creator empowerment, all without the need for approval from industry giants like Sony or Warner Bros. At the heart of this evolution stand two remarkable Italians: Matteo Milleri, one half of the celebrated Italian techno music duo, Tale Of Us, and Alessio De Vecchi, a renowned 3D artist and the Chief Curator of the NFT platform SuperRare. Together, they have conceived Afterlife, a visionary concept that could potentially become the first large-scale music industry use case for blockchain and NFTs showcased at events. Afterlife’s mission is to harness the potential for creating fan-owned ventures and eliminating parasitic intermediaries in the world of art & music.

A Symphony of Innovation

Afterlife is a fusion of music and art that pushes the boundaries of imagination. Alessio De Vecchi is the virtuoso behind the mesmerizing visuals that accompany Tale Of Us' performances.

Alessio De Vecchi's journey from Italy to Tokyo is a testament to his creative brilliance. His ability to craft visually stunning dreamscapes and animations is unparalleled, and it's this very talent that has brought Afterlife to life. As Afterlife continues to redefine the music industry, Alessio's contributions stand as a testament to the power of art and its ability to elevate music to new heights.

His artistic prowess adds an entirely new dimension to the music industry, captivating audiences with his dreamlike creations. In this remarkable project, music and art are intertwined, offering a one-of-a-kind experience that appeals to those with a refined taste for both.

A Creative Partnership

Matteo Milleri's journey began when he moved to Italy at a young age and met Carmine Conte, the other half of Tale Of Us. Their 2011 debut EP marked the beginning of a remarkable career, characterized by immersive live performances and a devoted fanbase. The essential piece to bring their creative vision to life was Alessio whom Matteo met on vacation in Ibiza.

The two quickly found synergies. Alessio’s gift for creating surreal and captivating worlds inhabited by fantastical characters fascinated Matteo. In 2020, Alessio ventured into the world of NFTs when he joined SuperRare. His unique art pieces soon commanded prices exceeding $100,000. According to Alessio, the challenge with NFTs lies in bridging the gap between the NFT scene and reality, making it comprehensible to a broader audience. Something he was only able to achieve with Matteo, a true symbiotic relationship

Empowering Artists and Fans

Alessio's artworks are the visual highlights in all of Tale Of Us shows, with ten of the show’s visuals being sold for 50 ETH (approximately $160,000 at the event's time) that will fund the development of Afterlife’s core component—a decentralized autonomous organization, or DAO. This DAO will serve as the conduit through which their royalties will flow, benefiting token holders. Initially, a significant number of tokens will be distributed among artists and the ten NFT investors. Over time, plans are in place to ensure that tokens find their way into the hands of all community members, including fans, stagehands, and opening acts.

A Vision for the Future

Matteo & Alessio envisions Afterlife as a catalyst for change, starting with a niche collection for high-end collectors to raise funds. These funds will enable the organization to empower creators by freeing them from major label deals and other restrictive agreements. The 11th NFT from the 11th Tale Of Us show will be transferred to the Afterlife DAO vault, becoming the community's first collective asset, akin to a Rembrandt held in trust. As the DAO matures, Matteo plans to distribute tokens to the fanbase. In this future scenario, fans and Afterlife token holders will see their personal fortunes grow simply by attending shows or streaming Tale Of Us tracks on Spotify. Matteo's commitment is clear: "I'm giving back everything I make from the music to the community. I'm not making any money with the music anymore. But, of course, I'm also holding the token. So I'm like them: All the music is all for the community, and we all have proportionate amounts of tokens based on our investment."
